Comfortably housed in an elegant Victorian villa on the outskirts of East Grinstead, Beechcroft Care Centre caters for young adults with learning and physical disabilities.
Opened in 2008, this specialist care home with nursing facilities for 20 young people in two ten-bedded units has been equipped with the latest technological aids and provides a safe, comfortable and homely environment for our service users.
Philosophy
Our aim is to provide a home that offers a safe and comfortable environment with support and stimulation to help service users maximise their physical, intellectual, emotional and social capacity with a person-centre care plan. Service users have the right to live as normal a life as possible and to have the respect of those who support them.
Person-Centred Planning is at the forefront of our philosophy with the service users’ needs and wishes at the centre of our service. The friendly and homely atmosphere we have created at Beechcroft Care Centre ensures that the service users are able to continue their lifestyle with personal privacy and dignity. The peace and tranquillity of our lovely home and gardens are enjoyed by our service users and they can be confident of a high standard of care.
Facilities
Beechcroft Care Centre is home to up to twenty young adults in an elegant late Victorian villa. Each single room has en suite facilities and there is track hoisting throughout the building. Activity rooms are available to all service users along with sensory and physiotherapy rooms. Hydrotherapy services are available in the swimming pool and spa with multi-purpose rooms for structured activities.

Care and Nursing
The home is registered to provide nursing and residential care. Specialist nursing care is available 24 hours a day throughout the home supported by a team of dedicated carers. The focus of the care and support is based on our person-centred philosophy.
Therapy Input
Sussex Health Care retain the services of a range of therapists. Physiotherapy, speech & language therapy, occupational therapy and reflexology are available on request. Experts are available to advise on any aspect of a service user’s care, recreational pursuits or environment. Beechcroft Care Centre also offers a variety of complementary therapies.
Activities
Beechcroft Care Centre has the benefit of an Activity Organiser who devises and carries out personalised activity plans, alongside the service user’s key worker.
The many activities include alternative and complementary therapies, dance and movement, music, arts and crafts, cooking, hydrotherapy, swimming and riding for the disabled. Service users benefit from the use of their own specially adapted vehicles for outings and sporting activities.Participation in further education and leisure activities at local colleges and outreach facilities are available to all service users. Every effort is made to enable service users to keep in touch with relatives and friends. Advocacy and volunteer befriending schemes are encouraged.
Training
All staff undertake an induction programme of instruction when joining Sussex Health Care. In addition, a system of supervision and support for care staff enables them to gain experience and increase their skills.
Extensive in-house training is provided by the Sussex Health Care training team and NVQ courses are undertaken in conjunction with the local colleges.

Beechcroft Care Centre is located on the outskirts of East Grinstead, next door to the National Trust property, Standen.
