Forest Lodge is a large Edwardian country house near Uckfield, East Sussex. The house, which has been tastefully extended, is set in eight acres of safe gardens.
Forest Lodge specialises in the care of older people who are mentally frail with confusion, dementia or Alzheimer's disease, and the staff team is skilled in this specialist care.
Philosophy
Our aim is to provide a home that offers a safe, comfortable environment with support and stimulation to help service users maximise their potential physical, intellectual, emotional and social capacity. Service users have the right to live as normal a life as possible and to have the respect of those who support them.
The friendly and homely atmosphere we have created at Forest Lodge ensures that service users are able to continue their lifestyle with personal privacy and dignity. In the peace and tranquillity of our lovely home and gardens, services users are supported by a high standard of care provision.
Facilities
The house has single and shared rooms, many with en suite WC facilities. All rooms have been individually designed and decorated and are furnished comfortably. In addition, there are three spacious lounges, a large airy dining room and two purpose-built activity rooms.

Care
Nursing care is of prime importance and is provided 24 hours a day by qualified staff under the personal supervision of the Registered Manager. Local GPs visit the home regularly and are on call at all times.
Therapy Input
Sussex Health Care retain the services of a range of therapists - physiotherapy, occupational therapy and reflexology are available on request. Experts are available to advise on any aspect of a service user's care, recreational pursuits or environment.
Activities
The activities programme is one of the most important aspects of life at Forest Lodge. A huge range of activities are undertaken by the service users including handicrafts, quizzes, reminiscence sessions, music and movement, cookery and art therapy. The key aim of the programme is to provide mental stimulation, engage the attention and interest, and to prolong mobility.
Cuisine
Our experienced chef prepares interesting and homely meals with attention to individual requirements and special diets.
Training
All care staff undertake an induction programme of instruction when they join Sussex Health Care. Thereafter, a system of supervision and support enables them to gain experience and increase their skills. Extensive in-house training is provided by the Sussex Health Care training team, and NVQ courses are undertaken in conjunction with local colleges.

Forest Lodge is located on the A22 (London-Eastbourne road) three miles south of the village of Nutley in East Sussex.
