Horncastle Care Centre opened in 2009 and provides two purposebuilt bungalows near East Grinstead. Each bungalow specialises in providing care for adults with complex needs.
Maple Lodge provides a home for ten adults with acquired brain injury and neurological conditions.
Willow Lodge provides ten places for young adults with learning and physical disabilities.
Philosophy
Our aim is to provide a Care Home that offers a safe and comfortable environment with support and stimulation to help residents maximise their physical, intellectual, emotional and social capacity, with a person-centred care plan. Service users have the right to live as normal a life as possible and to have the respect of those who support them.
The friendly and homely atmosphere we have created at Horncastle Care Centre ensures that the service users are able to continue their lifestyle with personal privacy and dignity. The peace and tranquillity of our lovely home and gardens is enjoyed by the service users who are confident of the high standard of care.
Facilities
Horncastle Care Centre is made up of two bungalows each with nursing facilities for ten people. Maple Lodge has been designed for adults with aquired brain injury and neurological conditions while Willow Lodge provides care for young adults with learning and physical disabilities. Each bedroom in these new bungalows has an en suite bathroom and there is track-hoisting throughout. A swimming pool and spa is available for all service users.

Nursing Care
Nursing care is of prime importance and is provided 24 hours a day by qualified staff under the personal supervision of the Registered Manager. Local GPs visit the home regularly and are on call at all times.
Therapy Input
Sussex Health Care retain the services of a range of therapists. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy and reflexology are available on request. Experts are available to advise on any aspect of a service user’s care, recreational pursuits or environment.
Activities
The activities programme is one of the most important aspects of life at Horncastle Care Centre. A huge range of activities are undertaken by the service users including handicrafts, quizzes, reminiscence sessions, music and movement, cookery and art therapy. The key aims of the programme are the provision of mental stimulation, continuation of hobbies and interests, and prolonging mobility.
Cuisine
Our experienced chef prepares interesting and homely cuisine with attention to individual requirements and any special diets. Mealtimes are important at Horncastle Care Centre and great care is taken to ensure that meals are attractively presented and elegantly served.
Training
All staff undertake an induction programme of instruction when joining Sussex Health Care. In addition a system of supervision and support for care staff enables them to gain experience and increase their skills. Extensive in-house training is provided by the Sussex Health Care training team to develop skills in dementia care, and NVQ courses are undertaken in conjunction with local colleges.

Horncastle Care Centre is located alongside Horncastle House, near the village of Sharpthorne just off the A22 a few miles south of East Grinstead in West Sussex.
