Wisteria Lodge Opens 19th July 2006
Sussex Health Care opened a brand new purpose built service in July 2006 in Nutley, East Sussex.
The facility caters for 10 service users who have physical and learning difficulties. All 10 bedrooms have their own en-suite facilities and track hoisting is available throughout. Wheelchair access has been developed inside and outside the building. A hydrotherapy pool is available within the home plus a separate snoozelin facility. All food is cooked on the premises and service users are encouraged to assist with planning their own menus.
Each service user is assisted to develop his or her own person centred plan. Sussex Health Care work very closely with local colleges and Outreach services and service users are given the opportunity to attend a college or Outreach service that meets their needs. Much emphasis is placed on ensuring that service users integrate with the local community and trips to the town, cinema, pubs and bowling are just some of the outings organised.
The home is staffed 24 hours a day and there are waking night staff on duty. NVQ training is available. A nurse will be available on every shift to deal with any health issues. Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists are also available as are music, drama, aromatherapy and reflexology. Individual therapy sessions will form part of the individual’s person centred plan. The home is registered with a local GP who will visit weekly and when needed.
