Research and Development initiatives
Sussex Health Care is unique in having a research and development group. During 2006 this group undertook a research project on constipation management with the University of Central England. Professor Sir George Castledine of the University of Central England and Professor Nick Bosanquet of Imperial College, London participated in this project and the research results have been published in the British Journal of Nursing. This research project won the coveted Laing & Buisson Award for Medical Practice in 2006.
Currently a research project on communicating with people with dementia is being undertaken by Professor Karen Bryan of Surrey University and results are due to be published early in 2008.
Each year two medical students studying at the University of Brighton undertake a research project in the care homes of Sussex Health Care.
